Tyres and retreading

Tyres are the most visible safety features on all vehicles and are the products of sophisticated engineering and design. The durability of a tyre's complex and composite structure means that whilst the tread is abraded and worn away by contact with the road surface, the main structure or carcass remains intact. Therefore, provided that the tyre has been well maintained, its service life can be usefully extended by the replacement of a new tread layer through the 'retreading' process.
